Well, thank you for taking the time to attend the Japanese Language Class Parents' Meeting today, despite your busy schedules. Our school is a very small school with just over 100 students, but we are very proud to have a Japanese language class. There are many elementary schools in Tokyo, but only 2% have Japanese language classes, so I think we are very lucky. The situation in which children with roots in various countries come to this school every day is a sign of the future of Japan, which values diversity. It is very important for the children in the Japanese language class and the children at our school to feel that this is a normal part of their daily lives. The teacher in charge will explain the methods, contents, and fun of learning Japanese that we usually do in the Japanese language class. There are various ideas in the classroom to attract the children's interest, and the teachers themselves prepared the Hinamatsuri decorations and the helmets for the May dolls, which they thought would make the children happy. The children belong to their respective schools and make precious memories of their childhood, but I hope that their days here at Minami-Osawa Elementary School will also be an important asset for their growth. Children learn quickly, so I think that in every home, the children are better at Japanese than their parents. Please try to talk to your children about what you have learned at school in "Japanese". 　みなさんこんにちは。南大沢小学校校長の安田　尚民です。皆さんの言いたいことはわかります。あんまり日本人に見えない。肌が日焼けしすぎている。怪しい。私自身イランの日本人学校を含め４年間ほどの海外生活があるのですが、どの国でもあまり「日本人」とは見られませんでした。毎日２時間ほど、自転車で通勤しているので、こんなに日に焼けているのだと思います。安心してください。
さて、本日は大変お忙しい中、日本語学級の保護者会にご参加いただきありがとうございます。本校は大変児童数が１００名少々と少ない小さな学校ですが、日本語学級を併設していることは大きな自慢です。東京都にはたくさんの小学校がありますが、日本語学級があるのはわずか２％。ですから、とてもラッキーなことだと思います。様々な国をルーツに持つ子供たちが毎日この学校に通ってくる、という状況は、多様性を大切にするこれからの日本の在り方を先取りしています。日本語学級に所属している子供たちにも、本校に所属している子供たちにも、こうした日常が当たり前に感じられることはとても大切なことです。今日は日本語学級で普段取り組んでいる日本語の学習の方法、内容、楽しさなどについて、この後担当教員から説明があります。教室には子供たちの興味関心を引き付ける様々な工夫があり、ひな飾りや五月人形の兜などは、子供たちが喜ぶだろうと教員が自分で用意したものだそうです。子どもたちはそれぞれの学校に所属し、子供時代の大切な思い出を作っていることと思いますが、ここ南大沢小学校での日々も、子供たちの成長にとっての大切な財産になれば、と願っています。子どもたちはぐんぐん覚えていくので、どのご家庭でも親よりも子供たちの方が日本語が上達していることと思います。ぜひ、学校で習ってきたことを、親子で「日本語」で話し合ってみてください。挨拶を終わります。ありがとうございました。
